“Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.” – Psalm 37:4
Let us bring our affections into line with His, and, for the sake of His name, let us renounce the quest for worldly comforts, and join His global purpose. If we do this, God’s omnipotent commitment to His name will be over us like a banner, and we will not lose, in spite of many tribulations. Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Missions exist because worship doesn’t. The Great Commission is first to delight yourself in the Lord. And then to declare —
“Let the whole world sing for joy,
because you govern the nations with justice
and guide the people of the whole world.” – Psalm 67:4
In this way God glorified from beginning to end and worship will empower the missionary enterprise till the coming of the Lord.
And they were singing the song of Moses, servant of God, and the song of the Lamb:
“Great and marvelous are your works,
O Lord God, the Almighty.
Just and true are your ways,
O King of the nations.
Who will not fear you, Lord,
and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.
All nations will come and worship before you,
for your righteous deeds have been revealed.” – Revelation 15:3-4
