Prophetic sketch of God’s purpose

prophetic sketch of God's purpose

“The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.”  –  Genesis 39:23

When Joseph worked as a slave, he worked diligently so that blessing abounded throughout all of his master’s affairs.  He was promoted to the highest pinnacle of power in an extensive empire.

He recognized that God was aiming at something far beyond his own well-being.  God was using circumstances intended for evil and turning them toward good.  Joseph is the first person in the story of Scripture who is said to have been expressly sent by God to accomplish mission of any kind.

Joseph preserved the lives of his own family, but the grateful exclamation of the Egyptian people tells the greater story of lives saved through Egypt and Canaan.

Joseph could have arranged that his remains would have been entombed in grand Egyptian style.  Instead, he insisted that his remains be carried back to the land that God had promised Abraham.  Joseph realized hat he was pursing a purpose that would be fulfilled beyond his own life span.
