“I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” — Genesis 12:3
There is a popular misconception that the Old Testament does not have a missionary mandate and that it is a book dedicated only to the Jews and their history. If we doubt that God’s promise to Abraham was global in scope and universal in its offer, we should note that the “families” which were scattered throughout the earth appear in Genesis chapter 10 and are the backdrop for God’s promise.
God’s missionary message to the people of Israel is also God’s call to us.
